LLB Internship Programme 2025 – Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice

The Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice offers an excellent opportunity for young law students and graduates to gain practical experience in legal affairs through its LLB Internship Programme 2025. This initiative aims to familiarize interns with the functioning of the Department, exposing them to a wide range of legal fields such as constitutional, administrative, finance, infrastructure, economic, labour, conveyancing, arbitration, and contract law.

Purpose

The main objective behind this internship is to train law students and new graduates in:

  • Research and referencing work,
  • Understanding court functioning,
  • Providing legal advice in specialized areas of law.

It is also designed to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world legal practice, giving interns insight into how laws are interpreted and enforced within the government framework.

Eligibility

The programme invites:

  • Indian students who have passed the 2nd year of a 3-year law degree or the 3rd year of a 5-year law degree,
  • Law graduates from recognized colleges, law schools, or universities,
  • Preference is given to candidates with advanced computer skills like MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.
Application Process

Applicants must submit their forms online, accompanied by necessary documents and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution, unless they have already graduated. The application window is open until August 11, 2025, 5:00 PM. Selected candidates will be notified via the internship portal or email.

Duration and Location

  • The internship lasts for one month, typically starting from the first working day of each month.
  • Interns can be posted at the Main Secretariat in New Delhi, the Supreme Court (Central Agency Section), the High Court Section in Delhi, or at branch secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

Selection and Attendance

  • Up to 50 interns may be selected each month based on merit and guidelines.
  • Interns must have at least 90% attendance and obtain a satisfactory evaluation from their supervisor to receive certification.
  • This is a full-time, in-person internship; interns cannot undertake other work or courses during the month of the internship.

Stipend and Certification

Upon successful completion, interns receive:

  • An honorarium of ₹5,000,
  • A certificate of internship as proof of their practical training and contribution.
