About the Internship Opportunity
The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) introduced its Internship Scheme in 2015 to provide students with real-time exposure to policy processes and governance mechanisms. The program is open to students from recognized institutions in India and abroad who are pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or research degrees.
The internship duration is a minimum of 6 weeks and may extend up to 6 months, depending on the applicant’s availability and institutional requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Students from recognized Indian or foreign universities may apply, provided they meet the following conditions:
For Undergraduate Students
- Must have completed/appeared for exams of the 2nd year or 4th semester.
- Must have scored at least 85% marks (or equivalent) in Class XII.
For Postgraduate Students & Research Scholars
- Must have completed/appeared for exams of the 1st year or 2nd semester of their PG program (or currently pursuing Ph.D./research).
- Must have secured a minimum of 70% marks (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree.
For Students Who Recently Graduated
- Students who have appeared for their final exams or completed graduation/PG and are awaiting admission to higher studies may apply.
- They must have scored 70% or more cumulative marks in all semesters.
- The gap between declaration of their final result and the desired internship start month must not exceed 6 months
(Example: If final results were declared in June, they may apply for internships beginning up to December).
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online via the NITI Aayog portal by 10 November 2025.
- Candidates may apply no earlier than six months and no later than two months before their preferred internship period.
- Applicants must clearly mention their preferred area of interest.
- A candidate is allowed to apply only once per financial year.
- Selected candidates must present their original mark sheets and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution at the time of joining.
