The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, was founded under the National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi Act, 2010, enacted by the Government of Jharkhand. The University functions under the guidance of distinguished leaders in the judiciary and government.

The Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, serves as the Rector of the University. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, holds the position of Chancellor, while the Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, acts as the Visitor.

About the Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP)

Established in October 2024, the Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) at NUSRL, Ranchi, is a dedicated initiative supported by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi.

The Chair’s primary goal is to promote advanced research, academic study, and capacity building in Consumer Law and Policy. It operates as a knowledge hub and think tank, focusing on the evolving dimensions of consumer protection, market regulation, and consumer rights awareness.

The CCRP also strives to make consumer law a prominent field of study at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through innovative research projects, internships, and policy-oriented programs.

Eligibility Criteria

The internship program welcomes students from recognized universities and institutions, including those pursuing law and other relevant disciplines.

Eligible Candidates:

• Students in their 2nd or 3rd year of a 3-year LL.B. course (after graduation).
• Students from the 2nd year onward in a 5-year integrated law program.
• LL.M. students seeking practical research exposure.
• Students from non-law backgrounds such as NITs, NIDs, or other institutions who possess an academic interest in consumer law, design thinking, or related domains.

This inclusive approach encourages interdisciplinary participation, allowing students from varied academic backgrounds to contribute fresh perspectives to consumer law research.

Internship Process and Structure

The internship follows a structured four-phase process to ensure a comprehensive research experience:

Phase 1:

Submission and approval of a well-defined research synopsis outlining the proposed topic, scope, and objectives.

Phase 2:

Detailed literature review, compilation of resources, and periodic progress updates to the supervisor or coordinator.

Phase 3:

A mandatory presentation at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing the research work, findings, and insights gained.

Phase 4:

Final submission of a polished research report, incorporating suggestions and feedback received during the presentation phase.

Duration of Internship

The internship typically spans a minimum of 30 working days.
The program begins with a brief induction session on the fundamentals of consumer law, helping interns gain essential context before they begin their research assignments.

Stipend

This internship is a voluntary, unpaid opportunity. No stipend or honorarium will be provided. However, participants gain invaluable academic mentorship, research exposure, and certification from a reputed national law university.
