About the K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law

The K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law at the National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) is a distinguished academic initiative aimed at promoting advanced learning, scholarship, and engagement in the field of criminal law. Instituted in 2011 by Justice D.P. Wadhwa (Retd.), Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, the Chair honours the legacy of the late Shri Kundan Lal Arora, Senior Advocate.

Over the years, the Chair has contributed significantly to legal discourse through research, policy engagement and public outreach, supported by eminent legal scholars such as Professor B.B. Pande, Professor K. Chockalingam, Professor G.S. Bajpai, and Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan. The position is presently held by Dr. Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.


About the Internship Programme

The K.L. Arora Chair invites applications for its Short-Term In-Person Internship Programme, designed for law students interested in developing expertise in criminal justice research and practice. Selected interns will be engaged on campus at NLU Delhi, offering them a collaborative, academic environment for learning and research.

  • Duration: Minimum 1 month, extendable to 2 months
  • Period: December 2025 – January 2026
  • Mode: Offline (On-Campus)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

✔ Completed at least two years of a 5-year Integrated LL.B. programme, or one year of a 3-year LL.B. programme.
✔ Strong academic record with demonstrated interest and coursework in Criminal Law (preference given).
✔ Excellent legal research and writing skills.
✔ Prior research experience is desirable but not compulsory.
✔ Candidates residing in the Delhi NCR region will be given preference due to the in-person format.
