The National Conference on “Overview and Comparison of Old and New Criminal Laws in India Criminal Laws stands as a pivotal event, convening legal professionals, scholars, policymakers, and students from across India to critically examine and discuss the three recently enacted laws that promise to redefine the country’s criminal justice system.
This conference represents a significant moment in Indian jurisprudence, as it gathers some of the most insightful minds in the legal field to engage with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA). These statutes are not merely revisions of existing laws but signal a comprehensive overhaul of India’s criminal legal framework, tailored to address the complexities of modern society.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, for instance, modernizes the procedural aspects of criminal law, while the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, focuses on citizen protection and public order, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, revises the rules of evidence to incorporate technological advancements.
Through a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, attendees will engage in a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. - The name of the author(s), designation, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, postal address, and contact number must be sent in a separate cover note along with the paper.
- Co-authorship is allowed up to a maximum of 2 authors.
- Submissions should be original and unpublished works. If any submission is found plagiarized, it will be outright rejected.
- Authors must follow the Bluebook 21st edition citation style for the abstract and the full paper.
- Formatting rules:
- Body Font – Times New Roman/Garamond
- Body Font Size – 12, Size 14 can be used for Headings only
- Line Spacing for the body – 1.5
- Footnote font – Times New Roman/Garamond, Font Size – 10; Line
- Spacing -1.0
- Page Margins – Normal
- Page Size – A4; Orientation – Portrait
- Page Nos. – Bottom/Top – Use Plain number
- A maximum of 10% plagiarism is allowed under Turnitin software.
