About the Event
The National Conference on โOverview and Comparison of Old and New Criminal Laws in India Criminal Laws stands as a pivotal event, convening legal professionals, scholars, policymakers, and students from across India to critically examine and discuss the three recently enacted laws that promise to redefine the countryโs criminal justice system.
This conference represents a significant moment in Indian jurisprudence, as it gathers some of the most insightful minds in the legal field to engage with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA). These statutes are not merely revisions of existing laws but signal a comprehensive overhaul of Indiaโs criminal legal framework, tailored to address the complexities of modern society.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, for instance, modernizes the procedural aspects of criminal law, while the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, focuses on citizen protection and public order, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, revises the rules of evidence to incorporate technological advancements.
Through a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, attendees will engage in a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. These discussions aim to highlight both the strengths and potential challenges inherent in these legislative changes, ensuring that the implementation of these laws upholds the values of fairness, equity, and justice that are foundational to Indiaโs legal system.
