About the RBI Summer Internship
The RBI Summer Internship Programme aims to give students practical exposure to central banking functions, financial regulation, and policy-oriented research. For law students in particular, it offers valuable experience in areas such as banking laws, regulatory frameworks, and statutory compliance.
The Reserve Bank of India invites applications annually for its prestigious RBI Summer Internship Placement Programme 2025–2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Students enrolled in the following courses are eligible:
- Postgraduate programmes
- Integrated five-year courses in Management / Statistics / Law / Commerce / Economics / Econometrics / Banking / Finance
- Three-year full-time professional bachelor’s degree in Law from recognised institutions in India
Note: Only students who are currently in the penultimate year of their course can apply.

Duration
- Maximum period of 3 months
Stipend
- ₹20,000 per month
- Travel allowance provided for outstation interns
Application Process
Selections are conducted twice a year, depending on the requirements of RBI, with internship batches beginning from 1st January or 1st July.
- For January intake:
Applications are open from July to November (previous year) and are reviewed in December - For July intake:
Applications are open from January to May and are reviewed in June
Applications are considered only for the specific batch applied for (January/July). If not selected, candidates must submit a fresh application for the next cycle.
Shortlisting is based on the candidate’s CV, references, and Statement of Purpose, followed by a personal interview.
Applicants must upload their CV, references, Statement of Purpose, and completed application form through the official RBI internship portal.
Incomplete applications or those missing required documents may be rejected. References should preferably be provided by faculty members of the applicant’s institution.
