NITI Aayog serves as the leading public policy think tank of the Government of India. It plays a crucial role in driving economic development and promoting cooperative federalism by fostering collaboration between the central and state governments.

NITI Aayog Internship Program
The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme offers a valuable opportunity for undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from recognized institutions in India and abroad. Interns will gain first-hand experience by working closely with different divisions, verticals, and cells of NITI Aayog. Applications are to be submitted online via the official registration portal.
Purpose of the Internship
This internship provides short-term exposure to selected candidates, allowing them to work alongside various departments within NITI Aayog and contribute to key policy initiatives.
Objective
The program aims to:
- Engage young academic talent in policy research and analysis.
- Offer interns insights into government operations and development policies.
- Encourage participation in policy formulation by contributing empirical research, briefing reports, and policy papers.

Eligibility Criteria
Students from recognized universities in India and abroad can apply, provided they meet the following criteria:
✔ Undergraduate Students: Must have completed or appeared for the second-year final exams (4th semester) of their bachelor’s program with at least 85% marks in Class 12.
✔ Postgraduate Students & Research Scholars: Should have completed or appeared for the first-year final exams (2nd semester) of their master’s or PhD program with a minimum of 70% marks in graduation.
✔ Recent Graduates/Postgraduates: Those who have recently completed their studies and are awaiting admission into higher education programs can apply, provided they have secured at least 70% aggregate marks in all semesters of their graduation/post-graduation.
🔹 The time gap between the final exam results declaration and the desired internship start date should not exceed six months. (For instance, if the final exam result was declared in June, the candidate can apply for internships starting until December.)
Internship Duration
- Minimum: 6 weeks
- Maximum: 6 months
🚫 Interns who do not complete the minimum required duration will not be issued a certificate.
